My name is Dean Goodwin and I am a licensed plumber, drainer and gasfitter specialising in the service, repair and conversion of natural gas and LPG room heaters, both portable and inbuilt. I have 40 years’ experience and was AGL trained. I work on most makes and models; portable room heaters are best serviced in my workshop from home so they can be stripped down and serviced. This can be a messy process, so it is better in the workshop than on your lounge room floor. Nine out of ten issues with heaters can be rectified with a service, however if parts are required, you will be contacted with a cost before going further with the service.

A service entails the below: 

• Remove all accumulated dust build-up from inside the heater (photos on our website show what this can look like). Dust build-up can lead to seizing of the fans and blocking injectors. Too much dust is also a fire risk.
• Remove all injectors inspect and clean clearing all blockages. 
• Clean the burner venturies. 
• Clean the fan and lube the bearings. 
• Inspect the gas valve and grease the stems and O Rings. 
• Reassemble heater and test and check and adjust gas pressure back to factory specifications. 
• Safety check, which entails making sure the tilt switch is working, there are no leaks around tiles and hose is free from wear and tear. 
• After your heater is serviced, you will notice an improvement with its performance.
